Teaching

I see teaching as an opportunity to support people in the process of learning to think. Since reading Yeager’s book, I’ve realised that what matters most to me in teaching is what he calls a “Mentor Mindset”: not simply instructing students, but helping them develop their own abilities and confidence in their own thinking.

As in my research, my goal in teaching is to make complex relationships understandable and to enable people to approach problems independently. I want students to take away tools and attitudes that help them think critically and act independently and responsibly – also beyond the boundaries of the subject.

To put this idea into practice, I’m developing my own introductory microeconomics course at Bochum University of Applied Sciences.
